Mobile Clinic for Children in Impoverished Neighborhoods - Although we live in one of the most technologically advanced centers in the world, our community does not provide our children with a medical system to address their unique physical and emotional needs. Children living in poverty – 25,034 according to 2000 census information – are particularly vulnerable. Many children require medical attention after hours or on the weekends because this is often the only time parents are available to take their children to a medical facility. Additionally, studies show that communities without access to specialized pediatric and emergency medical services for children have a higher mortality rate.
